Why bother with a general election?

Georgia needs a new generation of better candidates, and not just good ol' boy lobbyist/preacher types either. We need women and man, young and old, black and white, red and yellow, pink and green. The Democratic party better define themselves better or ass wipes like Rush Limbaugh and Eric Erickson and John Padgett will do it for us. Since when did education become so uncool? Why is conservation not hip with conservatives? Why do women never get elected statewide in Georgia? We need to have articulate, intelligent, capable candidates in every race up and down the board. We need to show that sexual preference really has no bearing on governmental performance. That marriage between the same gender will not cause Stone Mountain to crumble, and legal marijuana will not destroy families. We need to stand for something besides mediocrity and closing hospitals.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
